About Upper East Side OB/GYN

Personal, thoughtful, and clear OBGYN care.
At Upper East Side OB/GYN, Dr. Jennifer Butt and Dr. Shery Sabbah provide comprehensive gynecologic and obstetric care in a small, physician-led practice where patients are known, listened to, and guided with care that feels specific to them.
Whether you are coming in for your first gynecology visit, an annual exam, contraception counseling, family planning, pregnancy care, or a concern you have been putting off, our goal is the same: to give you trusted medical guidance in a setting that feels calm, direct, and personal.

Residency: UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School
I went to Rutgers University, New Brunswick for my undergraduate degree, and was one of 14 students accepted to the accelerated joint BA/MD program between Rutgers, where I received my BA, cum laude, in Biological Sciences, and UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School where I received my medical degree. I stayed at Robert Wood Johnson for my 4 year Obstetrics & Gynecology residency. I moved to NYC after graduation and have been working on the Upper East Side since then. I founded Upper East Side Obstetrics & Gynecology in 2018 with the goal of providing personalized care in a small practice.

Why did you become an OB/GYN?
I love the continuity of care. I get to know and care for women through different stages of their life. Some of my patients I've known longer than they've known their partners which is funny! For those who I've delivered their child, it's so special to be part of their big day!
What makes UES OB/GYN feel different from a larger practice?
We're such a small practice which allows us - everyone actually, from front desk to medical assistants to physicians - to know our patients so well. There's no call center, there's no script that's being read; we are real people and our practice is so genuine and direct. For the obstetric patients, it's especially nice, because you know exactly who will be delivering you since there are only 2 physicians!
What do you wish new patients knew before coming in?
We really try to know all about you at your first visit, and sometimes there will be issues that need to be addressed beyond the first visit to give you the time you deserve. We also have seen and heard it all, so very few things will phase us.
What part of OBGYN care is most meaningful to you?
The relationships and trust, for sure. It's not lost on me on what an honor it is to have patients trust us with their care. That trust has led so many of our patients to return for subsequent pregnancies and deliveries, care for their problems, and general health visits.
I am an OB/GYN physician with a strong foundation in women’s health, surgical care, and high-risk obstetrics. I earned my medical degree from A.T. Still University–Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed my OB/GYN residency at Good Samaritan University Hospital, where I served as Administrative Chief Resident. My clinical experience includes comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care, and management of complex labor and delivery patients. I am currently a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Clinical Consensus Committee for Obstetrics, and I am working towards a menopause certification to further expand my expertise in women’s health.
I became an OBGYN because I genuinely love building relationships with patients, performing surgery, delivering babies, and being there for really important moments in patients’ lives.

Our approach
We are relationship-driven, not volume-driven.

That means we are intentional about the way we schedule, communicate, and care for our patients. We take the time to understand your medical history, your concerns, your goals, and the details that may affect your care. You will never be treated like a number or rushed through a visit without understanding what is happening and why.
We believe in clear communication, thoughtful recommendations, and care that is grounded in trust. We explain things in plain language, answer questions directly, and help you feel informed without feeling overwhelmed.
A Practice Built on Patient Referrals

Why a small practice matters
In a smaller OB/GYN practice, continuity is not an afterthought. It is built into the experience.
At UES OB/GYN, you are cared for by Dr. Butt and Dr. Sabbah, not a large rotation of physicians; who you may only meet once. Over time, that creates a level of familiarity that matters. Your doctor knows your history, understands your preferences, and can approach each visit with more context and more care.
For gynecology patients, that may mean a more comfortable annual exam, a more thoughtful conversation about contraception, or feeling truly heard when something does not feel right.
For obstetric patients, it means moving through pregnancy with doctors you know, trust, and have seen throughout your care. When it comes time for delivery, that familiarity can make the experience feel more grounded, calm, and supported.
